It's DONE!

After many hours of researching, typing, and editing, my research paper is done! It feels good to have this huge part of my grade behind me.

As I mentioned in an earlier blog my paper is about Natural birth versus cesaran sections and epidurals. Most of you know that I delivered Kaylee without an epidural, but at the time I didn't know all the reasons why. This research paper has been a huge learning experience for me! For my next pregnancy, if we can get an insurance company that covers it, I would love to use a midwife and a birthing center (preferably one that is attached to a hospital.) I feel like I should throw out a disclaimer that I am not in any way trying to put down people who get c-sections or epidurals by writing this paper. Many of the people I love dearly got an epidural or c-section and I do not think any less of them for it.

With that being said I would love for anyone who is interested to go read the paper and give me any feedback. I decided to host the paper elsewhere since this is a full length paper. You can read it by clicking here.

Comedy Sports

In Provo there's a place called Comedy Sports. They do improv comedy in teams every Friday and Saturday night. Ryan and I went there once when we were dating but Ryan just learned that his boss is one of of the workers there. His boss gave us free tickets so we made a Saturday night date of it. We dropped Kaylee off at grandma Straws and drove down there. It was fun :-)
I thoroughly enjoyed the final act which was a song about facebook called be my friend. I tried to post the video but it was taking too long to upload.

I was pretty stoked about the Nsync poster on the wall there so I took a picture with it! Good to know my Nsync radar is still in tact hahaha

Live and LEARN...

Try to wrap your mind around this one... Ryan has been contemplating possible career options other than the ones he has been pursuing so far. Obviously nothing is set in stone yet but the one that is currently at the top of the list is school teacher. I think he has his eye on high school Spanish or Multi Media. Because of Utah's desperate need for teachers they have developed a program which allows anyone with a bachelors degree to teach while they work on getting a teaching certificate. My first thought on the idea was that he was crazy because high school drama makes him absolutely crazy and being a teacher means grading papers, but I don't doubt he would be good at it.When he takes personality quizes they always tell him he should be a teacher, so far be it for me to disagree. The plus side to him teaching is that even with hoe small a teacher salary is, we would still be making a lot more money then we are now and we would have benefits rather than paying $300 a month like we do now. I also like the idea of him working the same hours as kids are in school and having summers off. We talked about using summers to advance some of our other business adventures that we have discussed but never had the time to persue. The more I think about it the better I feel about it. Ryan even briefly mentioned that teachers in Las Vegas make more than teachers in UT. He and I have always said we would like for our kids to experience school outside of UT just to give them more perspective. So who knows maybe if he persues this path we'll be seeing all our Las Vegas family more often.

Ryan can't decide if he's really been doing what he is supposed to be doing in his life or if he is just being blown in the wind because our life plan changes every five seconds but I think we always put serious thought and prayer into our decisions even if we do find ourselves making them a lot.

In other news, Ryan and I gave talks in sacrement on Sunday and everyone said we did a really good job. I was really scared because believe it or not I haven't been asked to give a talk since I was a youth. I felt good abaout it though. I spoke about using all the resources which are available to us to share the gospel. It was my own spin on the topic "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ..." I based it on a talk given to BYU Hawaii by Elder Ballard. You can read Elder Ballard's talk here

rings

I finally decided to get my ring sized since it was small the day I got it and having a baby didn't help the situation. All I asked for for Valentines was for my ring to fit. Ryan took it to the jeweler (all the way in Provo because he bought it there) but never picked it up no matter how much I nagged. I've missed it terribly! I finally explained to him how much I really wanted it and how sad it made me that he hadn't picked it up so he went and got it yesterday! Yay! I love getting it back from the jeweler because it looks as shiny as the day I got it and I keep staring at it like I did the day I got it :-) These are the pictures from when I got it but they don't do that shiny diamond any justice.

I told Jewel that I loved her ring... it was very elegant. I decided to find a picture so you can all love it too :-) I hear this sucker is 4ct

I don't remember the diamond being diagonal like this but I guess it was.

Kaylee giggles

just another silly video of Kaylee...

California

We left Saturday night after Melissa's surprise 30th Birthday Party for CA. Kaylee slept the whole way. We got in at 6 am. We slept all day and had dinner with my family (and the missionaries) that night. Kaylee met Grandma and Grandpa Hartley for the first time.

Chelsie and Laurie came by to visit and hang out for a minute. Kaylee was falling asleep while eating and that was silly.

On Monday we picked Laurie up from Chelsie's place and helped move her TV and hang her picture frame. We laughed at the fact that her zipcode is 90210. Her back yard was beautiful... should have taken a picture.
Then we drove to CBS studios and made a quick stop at Ross because my husband didn't think to bring premier worthy clothes.
We parked at the studio got seated in seats with our names on them. We were behind Ty's friends in hats... hard to miss.
I was so worried watching the show because you could just see it in Ty's face... that panicked look of I just forgot everything. I totally know that feeling and it is not fun but he handled everything pretty well.
After the show we sat around and waited for Ty and Chels to talk to all the press people and then met her in her trailer.

From there we went to a little japanese restaurant with chels, ty, jewel, dimitri, his parents, and the producers of so you think you can dance. The food was really good.

The next morning we took off. It was too short a vacation but it was fun any way. On the way home we stopped in Vegas to show Kaylee off to the other grandparents and have a little dinner.

Maybe Chels will stay on for a long time and we will go back ;-) keep voting everyone!

PS chelsie's site got almost 40,000 hits on Monday!

Excitement!

Last night I went to the Draper Temple open house. The instruction rooms were very small but the temple as usual was quite beautiful. Ryan went to the wrong parking lot so our bus driver actually went to pick him up which was a big no no on her part and then he wasn't even in the parking lot e told me. I felt so ridiculous. He went home but Ryan Mike and Kyle couldn't come so we wll probably go again next week.

I'm leaving for California to go to the Dancing With the Stars Premiere. I can not wait! I'll have to come back and post premiere pictures. YAY CALIFORNIA! Chelsie and Ty are gonna ROCK! I'm sad that Jewel had to drop out but at least all her fans will vote for Ty now. I've been very excited for Chelsie and everything that she has done so far but now I am officially jealous!...

I've had that song stuck in my head all day now! Talk about a dream come true for me. I kind of wonder if this one thing will open a bunch of new doors for Chels. I bet that if she wanted to pursue music her fame and new inside connection to Jewel would make that a possibility for her. She's pretty good but I don't know if she's interested in that.

We made a big Sugar and Bruno sale. I was very excited. One lady in Canada ordered 5 things. I feel bad because it was the first order and we didn't know it had come in until 4 days after she ordered it so we didn't process it very fast. Hopefully she doesn't get too mad but you live and learn right?

That's about it :)...

Yum...

Kaylee ate rice cereal last night and she LOVED it! She was just sucking on the spoon and trying to steal the bowl. I kept making more and adding a bit more rice each time and she couldn't get enough!

I made a website for my class group project you can see it here
I also plan to put my research paper online for anyone who is interested in reading it when I am done. I'm actually writing it on Natural Birth vs c section and epidurals. I thought it was an appropriate subject to write about since people always think I'm crazy for going natural.
